GCC holds prayer service for fellow Centurion

Greensburg – More than 100 people attended a prayer service outside Greensburg Central Catholic High School June 14 to remember Brendan McGowan, who graduated from GCC May 29, and his friend Kaitlyn Rosensteel, a former GCC student who had just graduated from Ringgold High School. The pair were victims of a fatal lightning strike June 13. Many of McGowan’s classmates attended the service along with their parents. Several students spoke about their intense friendships and fond memories. The prayer service was led by Father Eric J. Dinga, who encouraged students to stay close to God because he knows how to care for us and our wounded hearts in the challenging days ahead. About a dozen grief counselors were also on hand to speak with students. Earlier in the day, Ben Althof, principal, met with local reporters and described McGowan as an honors student and a “genuinely good student who carried himself with a quiet confidence that made him a respected Centurion.” Althof asked for prayers for McGowan and his family.
